• Plans, compiles and controls the execution of the Department’s long term policy and action plans which includes major public health functions such as: Communicable and Preventable disease control
• Control of foodstuff, cosmetics and disinfectants
• Health education planning ,water and environmental pollution control
• Liaises and communicates with community leaders to ensure community participation in health development programs.
• Plans, supervises and control activities aimed at enhancing community participation in health and social matters
• Educating community members to build their own VIP latrines to improve sanitary standard in rural areas
• Staff supervision and co-ordination of all HIV/AIDS Information Campaigns, Hygiene Promotion and Water and sanitation programmers
• Participation in activities of National HIV, TB Awareness programs, waste Management
• Prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases specifically, sanitation and hygiene in informal settlements
• Promote good hygiene behavior/practices in informal settlements
• Promote and maintain health and hygiene standards at informal markets
• Undertake food sampling programmers and investigate complaints of food-borne diseases.
• Respond to public/environmental health emergencies
• Implement programmes/projects/interventions
• Performs administrative duties including general correspondence, report writing, data management and equipment maintenance
