Amber Mouton

I participated in an organisation known as the Lidar Foundation, where I worked with classmates on ways to raise money to help single mothers begin businesses to support their families. We hosted bake sales and gathered any preloved goods from students in our schools, such as clothes and stationery, which would be donated to the foundation. Any money we earned was donated to Lidar, and would be used to buy stock for the mothers' businesses.

I participated in an extra-curricular activity at a centre known as the Bernard Nordkamp Centre. Here, I assisted in the homework and learning of grades 1 and 2 scholars, where we approached writing, reading, and Mathematics in a calm and safe environment. As a result of Covid-19, many of the children at the BNC were unable to attend school or practise linguistics. Therefore, my classmates and I visited the centre every Tuesday to assist in the learning of these scholars.
